CAPS Delivers Pastoral Support for PLWH Across the Country After COVID

Even during an anniversary year where CAPS delivers two exceptional symposiums on HIV and Faith, the actual support provided for PLWH remains our priority. With partial funding from The Charles Plater Trust the re-establishment of our Positive Faith Manchester and Positive Faith East groups continued. PF Manchester held a community retreat weekend in April and new leaders have restarted monthly meetings. CAPS volunteers continued to offer outreach and support in the East of England where peer support is minimal, meeting for a time of sharing, prayer and a meal each month. It was a great relief to hold our first fully attended (post-covid) Douai Summer Retreat again this year. With refurbishment of The Old Laundry Community centre in Stockwell, following a major investment by the landlord, Hyde Housing, our Positive Faith London peer support groups were able to meet several times each month in this brand new and much more comfortable facility. Pastoral support for individuals needing help with issues of immigration, housing, debt or benefits advice and access or enrolment to clinical care has also continued. In total an estimated 155 adults of diverse ethnicity and sexual orientation who are PLWH, of any faith and none, have accessed individual or peer support through attendance at our support groups and our retreat weekends. A big thank-you to all of our Positive Faith members, CAPS volunteers and allies, who continue to serve each other.
